WEEK 2: in depth on education definition

What is education to you? The way you define education reflect your perspective about education.

I define education as the knowledge of everything under the sun. It encompass everything about human in the environment in totality.

Some define education as an act of discovering talent.

Some define education as a process of acquiring knowledge so be functional in the society.

Some define education as a system.

No matter  how you define it, it's all com from within. The force that is inside of you is what trigger you to learn. We are inspire to learn.

We learn to explore

We learn to describe

We learn to analyze

We learn to control

We learn to predict

How do we learn? Everyday is a learning process. Whatever that we observe is a learning process. Bitter sweet memories are the experience that teach us how to live. The bitter is the lesson, the sweet is the blessing.

We choose how to react to certain things around us and that is also a way of learning. We harness our defense system, both autonomically and spiritually. Our body and our soul is harnessing and learning everyday.

I found this reflection shared by my lecturer to be an awakening writing about educating ourselves.

Week 1: Why is education essential in human life?

Education started as early as in the womb. As a fetus, we are able to hear or respond to sounds by moving around or kick the mother’s belly. Taste in foods and cognitive development are also build during this period. 

Mothers put a lot of thought about their children personality as they read stories, sing, talk with the baby, or in Islam we recite surah and selawat for the sake of positive development of the baby. It is the dream of every parent for their children to be a person with values who can take a good care of themselves and can contribute to the society. 

Education is very important to develop a self-governing generation that can empower themselves thoughtfully. A generation that is not only good in academic and numbers, but also a generation who can show kindness and compassion. That is what make us human. 

There is more to learn about education and human in this course. I cannot wait to explore more about the nature of our development and how can we achieve the dream through education system.
